Universal System for Battery Simulation and Testing

48V onboard power supply systems offer new technical possibilities in electrification of vehicles. From electric powered components via effective start-stop-systems up to mild-hybrid powertrains.

The 48V series vehicle energy system VES3 serves to test energy storage, electrical components and powertrains with 48V board net on the test bench.

High voltage stability

The control mode for the drive test is optimized for high voltage stability during high load jumps. In case of a very steep load jump from 0% to 90% of the VES nominal current within 1   ms the voltage deviation is less then 1% of the nominal output voltage.

Integrated Ripple generator

For the simulation of AC components the VES3 contains a low- and a medium-frequency ripple generator. The AC component is modulated on the output voltage or the output current. So for example low-frequency mains voltage proportions (0,1 ... 300   Hz) or medium-frequency (300   Hz ... 15   kHz) inverter repercussions can be simulated. Both signals can be superimposed.

Automation and HIL simulation

For the communication between measuring equipment and automation systems we provide all common bus systems like CAN bus. For simulation purposes you can use onboard models or integrate own models. These models can be calculated on FPGA boards with high transmission rate. Therefor the behavior of reproduced components will be calculated in real-time and as a current or voltage setpoint transmitted to the vehicle energy system. Supported by a 40   kHz high speed data interface.

The tool chain supports model generation with MATLAB / Simulink.
